Memorial Day is Monday, and for me, that means BB!! The weather is nice, and it’s great to spend time outside, enjoying the company of family and friends…or even just spending the afternoon together with your immediate family.
Here’s a quick and easy menu for a tasty barbeque.
- Hamburgers & Hotdogs – I make my own hamburger patties to save money. The meat is better than the frozen patties, too.
- Potato Salad – I don’t use a recipe. I just cook the potatoes and then dice them up. I add mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper, chopped dill pickles, and a little bit of pickle juice. You could add eggs, olives, or anything else you like.
- Corn on the Cob – Shuck the corn, then place on a piece of foil, along with a pat of butter. Wrap the foil tightly around the corn and butter, and place it on the grill. Yum-O!
- Baked Beans – I’ve always just used canned beans, because they’re quick and easy, but if you plan ahead, you could use dried beans to save money. Jenn has a great baked bean recipe at Frugal Upstate.
Add some chips for crunch, a green salad for a veggie, and maybe some Jello for color, and you’ve got a yummy, frugal, Memorial Day barbeque. Don’t forget the ice cream for dessert! And to please the kids, make ice cream cones!
